In 1956, a general contractor was awarded a Department of Transportation contract to work on the development the Mid-Atlantic corridor of Interstate-95, a highway that greatly improved transportation for drivers. The GC, Albert Vaughn Williams, quickly realized that the success of the project depended upon onsite construction trailers to facilitate regular communication and accommodate work crews.
A.V. Williams’ vision was the basis for the company he founded, now known as Williams Scotsman.
